Christmas is only a week away. And there have been so many gift guides (great gift guides) come across my inbox and social media channels. I wasn’t really sure about writing a blog post with my own gift guide. At any rate, it’s getting pretty late in the game to order Christmas gifts. But maybe some of you aren’t exchanging gifts until after Christmas. Maybe you have a few parties to attend before the new year or some gift exchanges you’ve coordinated to occur after Christmas with the family. Or maybe you want some ideas for next year to keep on the back burner. If that’s the case, then maybe I do have some suggestions for you.
Personally, I never grow tired of chocolate. You can buy me a box of truffles, a bar of chocolate, a brownie box mix, or give me some DIY mason jar cake mix. Whatever the case — I’m down with that. While all of the above are stellar ideas, here are some more chocolate gifts that are sure to warm the hearts of the chocolate-loving vegans in your life.
I’ve never had the privilege of trying any of Allison’s baked goods, but God in heaven, would I love to! Cookies, brownies, fudge, toffee, caramels, cocoa, samplers, monthly clubs — you name it, she’s got it.
Vegan Chocolate by Fran Costigan
I own this cookbook and let me tell you first-hand, it’s freaking amazing. I simply can’t say enough about how delicious and drool-worthy these recipes are. Plus, they aren’t complicated recipes with bizarro ingredients.
Eat Pastry Chocoholic Chip Cookie Dough
I used to think this cookie dough didn’t actually exist. After years of searching and filling out request forms at my local health food store, I finally spotted this baby at my local Wegman’s. If you can get your hands on it, not only will your recipient love that you bought them cookies, but furthermore, and maybe more importantly, you gifted them with straight-up cookie dough. Yesssssssss.
While Vosges is not a vegan chocolate company, they do have a line of vegan chocolate bars, and a pretty exotic line at that. I’ve had a few of these bars and they were a revelation — the combination of flavors are a true challenge for your palette. These aren’t your shove-them-in-your-mouth-as-fast-as-possible chocolate bars. These are for the more sophisticated chocolate lover who wants to savor and explore the unique combinations that will tantalize your tastebuds.
Hail Merry chocolate macaroons
Just because you’re vegan and given up eggs doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a macaroon, honey. And if there’s one company that knows how to do it up right, it’s Hail Merry. Their chocolate macaroons (vegan, gluten free, nut free, kosher and non-gmo — BAM!) are pretty tasty. And if your chocoholic wouldn’t mind a few other flavors touching their precious chocolate, check out the holiday tins!
Dear Santa, please bring me these. I have been a good girl and have never had them. While others have had visions of sugar plums, I’ve been dreaming of these lovelies. Love, Melissa (Enough said.)
These are the only certified organic/non-gmo/gluten free/vegan baking mixes as of right now. Order up a few of these — brownies, cakes, frosting — and pile them in a basket. It’ll be as joyous as a stork dropping off a newborn 😉
Who doesn’t love a candy bar? I can personally vouch for these bars as I wrote a whole blog post about them. Plus, candy bars from Go Max Go make great movie theatre options! You can order these bars online from online vegan stores such as Vegan Essentials or Pangea Vegan store if you can’t buy them at your local health foods store.
I am totally at peace with having chocolate at breakfast. Many a morning you will find me topping an english muffin with either Justin’s chocolate almond or chocolate hazelnut butters. These products come in the usual jar or in individual packets. Plus…you can earn extra (chocolate) brownie points if you also throw in a package of Justin’s vegan dark chocolate peanut butter cups 😉
You probably know Sweet & Sara because of their vegan marshmallows, but when it’s the holiday season, this lady kicks it up a notch with chocolate-dipped marshmallows! Behold, the chocolate-dipped peppermint mallow pop!
Chocolate bar assortment
Put together an assortment of bars into one sexy bundle 😉 Some of my favorite chocolate bars come from a local company here in Maryland — Salazon Chocolate Co. Many of their bars are vegan-friendly (and I just happened to get my hands on their new holiday bar! Eureka!) But for other companies that carry delicious bars of chocolate, many of which are vegan-friendly, check out Theo, Chocholistic, and Divine Chocolate.
Truth be told, this list could go on and on, so I better cut myself off. There’s SO MUCH delicious vegan chocolate out there. It’s a good problem to have 😉 For extra good measure, you can search for vegan and slavery-free chocolate through the Food Empowerment Project website.
